FAQs

Do I need an app to use the lights?

The free Twinkly app (iOS and Android) unlocks all the smart features, like mapping, custom effects and syncing. If you just want them to light up, you can also switch effects with the button on the controller, no phone needed.

Is setup complicated?

Not at all. Plug in the lights, open the app, and follow the guided steps to connect them. Scanning your tree takes about a minute, and you’re ready to play effects right away.

Do I need Wi-Fi?

Wi-Fi is recommended for the full experience, including voice control and controlling your lights from anywhere in the house. You can also connect directly over Bluetooth for basic setup and control.

Can I connect more than one string?

Yes. You can group multiple Twinkly products in the app so they play the same effect together, perfectly in sync. That includes strings, curtains, garlands and trees, which makes them great for decorating a whole room or the front of your house.

Which string length should I choose?

As a rule of thumb, use [100 LEDs per 60 cm (2 ft)] of tree height for a full, rich look. For example, a 180 cm (6 ft) tree looks best with [250–400 LEDs]. Not sure? Go one size up. You can always wrap the extra light more tightly.
